Real Estate – The Solidarity Way

Real Estate - The Solidarity Way

How Does This All Work?

When we sit down with clients, the most common question we hear is: “So… how does all of this work?”
It’s a simple question that leads to a bigger conversation. Here’s how we break it down:

  • What does an agent actually do—and why do I need one?
  • How do I pay for this? (The home, agent compensation, fees, etc.)
  • What are the steps in buying or selling a home?

What a Real Estate Agent Does

In Wisconsin, real estate agents are state-licensed professionals who help people buy, sell, or rent property. We market homes, negotiate deals, manage contracts, and guide clients through every step of the transaction. Whether we’re representing a buyer or seller, our role is to advocate for your best interests and ensure a smooth, well-organized process from start to finish.

How Agent Compensation Works

Agent compensation is negotiated up front when you sign a Buyer Agency Agreement or a Listing Contract, but it’s not paid until the transaction closes. We talk openly and comfortably about compensation so you always understand what you’re paying for—and why.
Solidarity Realty never charges additional service fees.

Buying a Home

Buying a home can look simple: look, pick, offer, buy. But in reality, there’s a lot more going on. That’s where we come in.

We help you evaluate what matters—how serious a concern is, what something might cost, what’s a red flag versus routine maintenance. Once you’ve chosen a property, we draft your offer and negotiate on your behalf. Effective negotiation is crucial, especially in a competitive market.

Selling a Home

When selling, you want an agent who understands what today’s buyers are looking for and how to position your property for the best results. We help you prepare, present, and price your home to meet your goals and maximize your return.

A Custom Strategy for Every Client

We never use a one-size-fits-all approach. We listen, learn what you need, and build a custom plan around your goals—whether you’re buying, selling, or both.

Commitment To Our Community

We believe in community, and our commitment to giving back is more than just writing checks! We are volunteers, community leaders and activists. Our name, Solidarity Realty, was born as a result of the Act 10 protests, and ongoing erosion of our rights.

These are just a few organizations we’ve donated our time and service to:

  • Public Library Foundation
  • Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center
  • Home Buyers Round Table
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies
  • Marquette Waterfront Festival, Willy St Fair, Orton Park Festival
  • Goodman Community Center
  • Madison LakeWay

Inclusion and Equity

Our Commitment to Inclusion

We believe everyone deserves equitable access to housing and community. We stand with racially and ethnically diverse communities, the LGBTQ+ community, and all who have been historically marginalized.

We take Fair Housing seriously and acknowledge the inequities in our industry’s past. We are committed to doing our part to right those wrongs through ethical practice, education, and advocacy.

Our promise is simple: to serve every client with dignity, fairness, and respect as we help build a more inclusive community for all.

Land Acknowlegement

We acknowledge that our work as a local Wisconsin brokerage takes place on land that has long been home to Indigenous Nations. We honor the original stewards of this land — the Ho-Chunk Nation, along with the eleven other First Nations of Wisconsin — who have lived, gathered, and cared for these lands since time immemorial.

We acknowledge the circumstances that led to the forced removal of the Ho-Chunk people, and honor their legacy of resistance and resilience. This history of colonization informs our work and vision for a collaborative future. We recognize and respect the inherent sovereignty of the Ho-Chunk Nation and the other 11 Native Nations within the boundaries of the state of Wisconsin. We express our respect and gratitude as we strive to support communities with integrity, awareness, and a commitment to equitable housing for all.
